Correction: I was never an employee of NASA; rather I was involved with a university research group and they were asked by NASA to develop something to simulate microgravity in a lab on Earth. Ergo, I was awarded the task of doing this research. It had to levitate non-magnetic as well as magnetic materials of all categories. Tis all.

Ah, yes. The movie Dune comes to mind. But, was Frank Herbert that far off? I feel there is much that has been buried by the ‘sands’ of time.
